Michael Ohl, MD, MSPH

Dr. Ohl is an infectious disease specialist and staff physician at Iowa City VA . He is also an investigator with the Center for Comprehensive Access and Delivery Research and Evaluation (CADRE) and the Veterans Rural Health Resource Center (VRHRC). His research focuses on the development, evaluation, and implementation of strategies for delivering team-based specialty care in rural settings, where health care resources are often limited..

Specific areas of interest include innovative models for applying telehealth, integrated electronic health records and population registries, and generalist-specialist collaboration in health care delivery across the rural-urban continuum. Current projects center on care for persons with HIV/AIDS. More recent work explores sources of variation in Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia (SAB) outcomes, and roles for tele-consultation in SAB care.
