Sarah Ono, PhD

Dr. Ono is the Director of the Qualitative Core, a group of experts in qualitative methodology with background training in public health, anthropology, sociology, and geography. The Qualitative Core provides methodological, technical, and analytic support to CADRE, the Veterans Rural Health Resource Center-Central Region, and the VISN 23 PACT Demonstration Lab at the Iowa City VA Health Care System. Dr. Ono is a cultural anthropologist with extensive ethnographic and interview experience and specializing in the complementarity of interview, observational, and focus group methods in health services research settings. Her current projects involve: rural access to health care; HIV telehealth care delivery; VA use of new media; smoking cessation interventions; infection prevention; policy implementation; co-management; PACT implementation; and military sexual trauma.
